Every year 500,000 children in the UK suffer abuse, so safeguarding training is essential for everyone who works or volunteers with children. The Safeguarding Children Course enables participants to recognise warning signs and respond appropriately, ensuring timely interventions to protect vulnerable children. 

With clear guidance on reporting concerns, whistleblowing, and implementing safeguarding measures, this course empowers participants with the confidence and skills to protect children’s safety and wellbeing in any setting. 

The Safeguarding Children and Young People Training is an essential, in-depth programme that equips staff with the knowledge and skills to recognise, respond to, and prevent safeguarding concerns, ensuring the protection of children and young people while promoting compliance with UK safeguarding regulations and standards.

Who should take this course? 

This child safeguarding course is for all those who work or volunteer with children. 

Course duration

The safeguarding children online course takes approximately 45 minutes to complete.  

Course aims

By the end of the Safeguarding Children Course, learners will be able to: 

  • Define safeguarding, understand what it means for children and their responsibilities. 
  • Identify the signs and symptoms of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, neglect, bullying (including cyberbullying), FGM, child trafficking, radicalisation, and the impact of domestic abuse. 
  • Know what to do if they suspect abuse and how to act if there is immediate danger. 
  • Understand whistleblowing procedures and how the law protects whistleblowers.

How is it delivered?

The Safeguarding Children Course is delivered online or through a computer network to each trainee at their desktop, laptop or mobile device.  

Training can be completed at the employee’s own pace by “bookmarking” and recording progress and returning to the training later.
