Course Description

This course is aimed at all personnel who in the course of their daily duties encounter long term derelict buildings or structures, both externally and internally where the potential for biological hazards may now be found.

Primarily aimed at personnel who may be carrying out strip out operations, demolition or dismantling, but is also recommended for surveyors, architects and anyone who may need to visit a derelict property.

The course also covers common protected species that may be encountered and what to look for.

Aims

To ensure delegates have a good understanding of biological hazards associated with derelict properties and what to do if encountered.

How to identify the presence of rodents, bats and alike.

Objectives

On completion of the course, delegates will be able to:

 

• Have a broad understanding of the hazards associated with derelict buildings

• Identify areas where the hazards may exist

• How to pre plan for a visit and carry out a dynamic risk assessment whilst on site

• How to identify common protected species that may be present.
