This course is aimed at anyone who will be a Designer duty holder under CDM 2015 or who needs to understand the Designers role.

The course helps identify individuals or organisations who fulfil the Designers role

The course gives an in depth understanding with practical examples of Designer duty holder status under CDM 2015 with an emphasis on organisations or people who: Design, modify designs, specify, including drawings, design details, bills of quantity and design calculations

Understanding the CDM culture and communication expectations including site documentation and compliance.

·       To ensure delegates have an excellent understanding of all the roles and responsibilities with an emphasis on communication between all duty holders.

·       The course will cover:

  •        CDM, the background and changes since concept up until the latest version, understand key terminology and industry guidance.
  •        In depth explanation of the CDM regulations and how to interpret the Designers role & responsibilities and how they impact Health and Safety of all those involved within construction.
  •       Legal responsibilities of the designer
  •         Detailed insight into the processes involved in design decision making and the use of the red, amber and green lists.
  •         Design risk assessment process.
  •         Communication-operation and co-ordination with the key duty holders.

On completion of the course, delegates will be able to:

 

• Identify the 5 key CDM duty holders

• Identify Roles and responsibilities of the Designer

• Designers Duties for risk assessment.

• Understand the clients site requirements:  design in safety, how to eliminate foreseeable risks wherever possible and control measures for risks that cannot be eliminated.

· Be confident in understanding the principles of CDM, practical interactions and communication.

· Be able to assist in maintaining a healthy and safe environment for the duration of the project and beyond.
