Driver Awareness Course

Our IOSH Approved Driver Awareness course online enables those who drive for a living to take proactive steps to manage their safety on the road to reduce the risk of accidents. 

Employers have a legal responsibility to do all they can to protect the health and safety of employees, and those who drive for work are at greatest danger. Providing training is an important way to reduce the risks these employees face. 

The course provides employees with a thorough understanding of safe driving practices and prepares them for unforeseen incidents, such as breakdowns, accidents and sudden changes in the weather.  

Who should take this course?

The driving awareness course is for employees who drive on behalf of their employers. It is suitable for fleet and company vehicle users and employees who are authorised to use their own vehicles for work.  

Course duration

Driver Awareness training takes approximately 25-30 minutes to complete. 

Course aims 

By the end of the Driver Awareness online course, participants will: 

• Understand the increased risk of accidents for those who drive as part of their job. 
• Identify the consequences of unsafe driving. 
• Understand the legal responsibilities of employers and employees for road safety. 
• Recognise the key elements of a road risk policy and how it supports safe driving practices. 
• Know essential considerations for safe driving, including pre-journey planning, rest breaks and avoiding distractions. 
• Have practical knowledge on vehicle checks, safe driving on motorways, how to drive in adverse weather conditions and what to do in the event of an accident.
