All organisations with five or more employees are legally required to assess the risks associated with the use of Display Screen Equipment (DSE), which, if not correctly adhered to, can lead to such injuries as Repetitive Strain Injury (RS), Upper Limb Disorders and carpal tunnel. The DSE Risk Assessment course will provide delegates with all of the information required to complete a sufficient risk assessment on DSE users, identifying the hazards, evaluating the risks and implementing control measures/encouraging best practice where required.

Key points

  • Experience: Suitable for supervisors of DSE users and those looking to become a DSE assessor within their organisation
  • Duration: One day
  • Assessment: Multiple choice test papers and practical assessment
  • Teaching method: Private classroom-based learning which can be delivered in-house or at one of SOCOTEC’s training facilities across the UK

DSE Risk Assessment – aims/objectives

With the aim of protecting workers from the health risks associated with poor DSE use, the DSE Risk Assessment course will provide delegates with a thorough understanding of what a risk assessment is and how it is applied to DSE users. Informing delegates of the duties required of them as DSE assessors, the course raises awareness of the hazards and health issues associated with poor DSE usage and how to best manage them, how to set up and adjust workstations and how to carry out and review a DSE assessment with confidence.

DSE Risk Assessment course structure

Once delegates have completed all of the content for the DSE Risk Assessment course, they will undertake a series of multiple choice test papers and a practical examination, which will consolidate everything that they have learnt within their risk assessment training.

DSE Risk Assessment course outcomes

Those who have completed the DSE Risk Assessment course will be able to carry out a suitable and sufficient risk assessment with confidence, successfully fulfilling the legal obligations required of them in the Health and Safety (DSE) Regulations and reducing the risk of health issues associated with poor working practices.

Who is the DSE Risk Assessment course suitable for?

Applicable to any working environment in which DSE is used, the DSE Risk Assessment course is recommended for supervisors of DSE users and those intending to become a DSE assessor within their organisation.
