In a technologically advanced world where we are more connected by the Internet than ever before, businesses continue to face an increasing level of security threats from cyber attacks. With over 90% of data breaches a direct result of human error, employers are recommended to provide their employees with up-to-date cyber security training in order to raise awareness of the level of risk and encourage best working practices to protect the confidentiality and integrity of their organisation’s data, devices and networks.

The Cyber Security e-learning course has been designed to underline the importance of basic computer safety, as well as the risks and consequences that can arise as a result of security breaches. Delegates will be taught the various ways in which they can contribute to reduce the risk of attack against their organisation, providing them with the competence and knowledge required to identify, report and eliminate cyber threats.

Cyber Security – aims/objectives

The key principles of the Cyber Security course are to explore cybercrime in its various forms, highlighting the importance of protecting digital information held on devices and networks and the detrimental impact that this can have on both the individual and the wider business.

Delegates will be briefed on the definitions of common types of cybercrime, including viruses, worms, adware, spyware and Trojans, while also learning about ‘social engineering’ tactics such as phishing, baiting and scareware. They will discover how hackers use these tactics to trick users into providing their security passwords, sensitive information and access to devices, as well as the damage they can cause to operating systems and software applications.  Finally, they will be taught the steps that they can take in the case of their being a victim of a cyber security breach, alongside the protective measures and best practices they can implement to reduce the risk of cybercrime.

Cyber Security – course structure

The Cyber Security course is split into four modules in total, after which delegates will be required to complete a final test to demonstrate their newfound awareness. Following successful completion of the test, a certificate will be available to download and print immediately.

Cyber Security – course outcomes

By completing the Cyber Security course, delegates will have a thorough understanding of the recommended course(s) of action required in the event that they suspect or know that they have been the victim of a malware attack. They will have a newfound awareness of how to protect themselves and their organisation against cybercrime, recognising the importance of virus checks, security software updates, secure passwords and browser safety in helping to reduce the risk of a cyber security breach.
